Camber is the angle at which the wheel and tire stand relative to the road – assuming it is perfectly flat. The easiest way to envision what camber looks like is to view the wheel and tire head on. When stationary, the tire maintains a static camber angle, whereas when the car is cornering, due to body roll, the contact patch is reduced.

Vehicle camber plates, also called caster-camber plates, consist of a mechanical plate of manufactured steel with slotted adjustment holes that can set an individual vehicle tire at a negative or positive angle.
A slip angle is the angle between the direction the wheel is pointing and the direction the tire contact patch is traveling. This is a result of the elastic properties of rubber, which deform under friction.
If you're using your sniper laser alignment tool, positive camber is above the center line, while negative camber is below. Increasing your camber can help you in the rain, wicking away more water. Typically in the dry, however, you'll be at a neutral setting for camber most likely. Too much camber could create a loose rear end of your kart.
The pinion angle should be in the range of 5 to 8 degrees. Pinion angles do not have an effect on traction because they are not the limiting device on the rotation of the rear axle housing. It is the trailing arms that limit the housing rotation and transfer loading to the chassis.

Camber is set just by getting the tires pointing straight, and leveling out the gauge, and reading your - and + slots for camber. RF -2 LF +.25. This can also be done just by eye balling it. If you run a flat track all year and then go to a high banked track, you can just adjust the right front to lean the tire in towards the chassis more.

By moving the indicator dots towards the centre of the kart you will introduce increased positive camber on the attached relevant front wheel, conversely by moving them away from the centre of the kart you will increase negative camber. • deflections are minute and difficult to analyze in go kart making not much sense for negative camber. Manufacturing such minute angles is not possible without automized equipment or proper designed jigs and fixtures. Thus, setting camber on go kart is a complex design challenge for the designer. • Nov 01, 2017 · "Is the go-kart to be run under any sanctioning body/rules?" - No "Is camber/caster adjustability permissible within the rules?" - Yes, there are no rules "With the kart steering straight ahead, what is the nominal angle of the axle to the horizontal?" - This would be what I would consider to be camber if I'm interpreting this correctly.
